Faith Integration in the Classroom

One component of the Good to Great initiative is to ensure that Christian education is a foundation for students’ experience at St. Peter. Vicar Given, the school’s new youth pastor, has taken the following steps to integrate a Christian education into the curriculum:

  • Teachers have been trained to integrate faith into their teaching.

  • Classroom have daily prayers, which include the Apostles Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, the Saint’s Pledge, the school prayer and verse and pledge to the Christian flag.

  • Grade R (Kindergarten in the US) through Grade 12 are divided into four departments. The students in each department have a weekly assembly during which there are scripture readings. The whole school has a weekly assembly that includes a scripture reading.

  • The songs taught to students in music classes and in the choir include religious hymns.

  • Each room in the school, including classrooms, offices, and the cafeteria have a “Faith Corner” that includes an inspirational message which is updated each month.

  • Inspirational themes are posted throughout the school’s classrooms.
