Faith Integration in the Classroom
One component of the Good to Great initiative is to ensure that Christian education is a foundation for students’ experience at St. Peter. Vicar Given, the school’s new youth pastor, has taken the following steps to integrate a Christian education into the curriculum:
Teachers have been trained to integrate faith into their teaching.
Classroom have daily prayers, which include the Apostles Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, the Saint’s Pledge, the school prayer and verse and pledge to the Christian flag.
Grade R (Kindergarten in the US) through Grade 12 are divided into four departments. The students in each department have a weekly assembly during which there are scripture readings. The whole school has a weekly assembly that includes a scripture reading.
The songs taught to students in music classes and in the choir include religious hymns.
Each room in the school, including classrooms, offices, and the cafeteria have a “Faith Corner” that includes an inspirational message which is updated each month.
Inspirational themes are posted throughout the school’s classrooms.
